Women’s Club Social Activities
Shadow Hills Country Club supports a very active Women’s Club that provides friendship and fun for the non-golfers. If you’re interested in playing Mah Jongg, Pinochle and/or Bridge, please call the Club at 541.998.2365 for contact information.
Mah Jongg
Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am, come join the fun. Mah Jongg is a game for three or four players per table. It is played with dice and tiles and is very similar to old-fashioned rummy. Patterned tiles are put together in sets of two, three and four as well as run sequences. Players start with 13 tiles and “Mah Jongg” occurs when 14 tiles can be shown in a grouping that appears on each player’s Mah Jongg card. The cards come from the National Mah Jongg League and are in effect for one year. Beginners welcome.
Pinochle
Couples/Mixed pinochle is offered on the second Friday evening of each month. This is organized play with telephone calls made during the week before to establish the number of tables needed. Play is controlled by tallies to ensure a thorough mixing of players.
Dinner isn’t a prerequisite but is a good time to visit and get-to-know fellow members. Substitutes are also welcome to sign up. Social gathering begins about 5:00 pm, followed by dinner with play usually getting underway by 6:30 – 7:00 pm.
Women- semi-organized play is held at 10:00 am every Wednesday for women members on a “come-when-you-can” basis. We’re a very flexible, friendly group. No need to call…just come out. This is a great way to renew pinochle skills, meet members and enjoy lunch in between sessions.
Partner Bridge Partner
Partners/Mixed Bridge is played on the first and third Friday evenings of the month at the Club. Meet for dinner in the dining room at 5:30pm and play cards afterwards. The group welcomes both men and women bridge players. You must have a partner to play with, and you must let the organizer know beforehand so there is an even number for cards. All bridge skill levels are welcome to play.
Party Bridge
Women – a party bridge group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Play starts at 10:00 am with a break for lunch around noon.
Duplicate Bridge
Couples/Mixed Shadow Hills hosts a duplicate bridge group on the first, third and fifth Tuesdays of each month, year-round. Play starts at 10 am with a break for lunch at around noon. Play continues after lunch until 2:30 or 3 pm. No advance reservation is necessary; just show up with a bridge partner. Both men and women are welcome.
